Low Calorie 3-Ingredient Sweet Potato French Fries

Low Calorie Sweet Potato French Fries

Who says you can’t eat fries and lose weight? Fries are seriously one of my favorite foods… especially when paired with ketchup!! Problem is, fries get such a bad reputation because they’re a fast food staple that’s often loaded with trans fats (the type of oils that are BAD for our health) and packed full of calories.

While I do order fries out at my favorite restaurants once in a while, I much rather prefer to make fries at home so I can eat a bigger quantity without compromising my goals.

The best part about this recipe is that these fries are made from sweet potatoes, a healthy and natural carbohydrate source packed with vitamins and minerals. I love sweet potatoes because they're naturally high in fiber (an important nutrient that keeps you full after eating and boosts your metabolism) and low in fat. Plus they’re high in vitamin E and C which help your skin stay flawless!

Whether you’re building your plate for dinner or just want to indulge in some fries after a long day, a serving of my sweet potato fries recipes is only is 150 calories and 20 grams carbohydrates… not bad at all! To make sure I stay on track with my goals, I always balance my plate with my secret weight loss formula. This is the same formula I teach the women I work with in my 1:1 Alumni Slim Down Program. It involves understanding the servings of carbohydrates, proteins and fats you need at each meal so you hit your calorie goals to lose weight.

If following my weight loss formula, it’s important to know that sweet potato fries count as your carbohydrate source. Fries often get a bad reputation because you eat them alongside bread, pasta salad and other delicious carbs! So instead of loading up on all these different carbs (and increasing how many total calories you eat) balance your plate by eating just the sweet potato fries as your carb source alongside a low calorie vegetable like a side salad! That way you can eat fries whenever you want and hit your weight loss goals.

Dying for the recipe!? Here it is babes!

Simple Sweet Potato Fries

Servings: 4

  • 3 medium-sized sweet potatoes

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp black pepper (optional)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

  2. Wash and peel 3 sweet potatoes.

  3. Cut sweet potatoes into small 1/4 inch fries. What I do is cut each potato in half, then cut eat half into thin slices. The thinner the slice, the easier it is to cook!

  4. Place in mixing bowl and combine with olive oil, black pepper, salt and paprika.

  5. With your hands, mix the sweet potato fries with the add-ins until the sweet potatoes are completely covered with the mix.

  6. Put the fries on a baking tray in a flat layer, then put in oven for 30-40 minutes until brown.

  7. For the last 5 minutes, broil the sweet potato fries to get extra crispy! Be sure to keep an eye on them.
